The Ultimate Spring Bucket List for your Dog

Happy first official weekend of spring! Here in DC the mornings are still chilly so it doesn’t quite feel like spring yet but nevertheless we’ve started to celebrate! New seasons are always so exciting. Spring is particularly special because things finally brighten and lighten up. To celebrate the slightly warmer and brighter days, we created this ultimate spring bucket list for you and for your dog to enjoy.

1. Attend a baseball game

What says spring more than watching a baseball game? Luckily for us, our local Major League Baseball team, the Nationals, host a number of Pups in the Park special event games. During these specific games, fans are able to bring their dogs to the ballpark to watch a game–how fun! highly recommend checking your local major/minor league baseball teams for a “pups in the park” or “bark in the park” event.

2. Explore a new place in your city

I know I’m not alone when I admit I get bored of my city and want to just get away to all the gorgeous places I see on social media. However, as I’ve scrolled through some of DC’s popular Instagram pages, I realized there was so much in the DC area that we haven’t yet seen! I’ve started to create a “wish list” of all the places I want our little family to travel to.

3. Go on a hike

Regardless of Navy’s stumpy stature, she likes to hike! I am pumped for the ground to finally dry up in northern Virginia so we can start to explore the amazing trails in our area. We’ve been dying to get back to the Lynchburg/Roanoke area to do another hike or two.

Pro tip: AllTrails is an awesome source for finding dog-friendly trails.

4. Stop and smell the flowers

When I think of spring, I automatically think of flowers. Our corgi friend @corgi_zero inspired us to find our own gorgeous patch of wild flowers this spring. Know anywhere we can go in the DC area?

5. Get away for the weekend

Nothing says spring to me more than packing an overnight bag and just getting away. Now that the weather is finally getting warmer I can’t wait to visit some nearby cities with Navy. In a couple weeks we are finally going to Getaway House DC (we booked this back in October). Stay tuned for a blog post all about our experience–we can’t wait!

6. Plan a summer vacation

In the beginning of this year we made a blog post all about our travel goals for the upcoming year. Now that we’ve planned to bring baby Duke home in a couple weeks, our travel plans can’t be as ambitious. I’m going to take a closer look at what our travel goals were for 2019 and try to make one happen for the summer!

7. Pack a picnic

When the weather is nice out I want to spend all the time I can outside, including eating! This spring I’d love to find someplace fun to lay a blanket down and enjoy a meal with our little family.

8. Go wine tasting or visit a brewery

Here in Virginia we are absolutely blessed in with amazing dog friendly wineries and breweries. This spring/summer my goal is to visit a few new wineries and breweries with Navy and Duke.
