Outdoor Activity Essentials for Dogs!

Now that it is officially spring and the weather is finally warming up, we are gearing up to cross all our hiking goals off our bucket list! I know I am not alone when I say outdoor adventures are only better with Navy by my side. We recently embarked on a fun day trip to Theodore Roosevelt Island in Washington, DC with some of our local corgi friends. To ensure our fun outdoor adventure went as planned, we make sure to pack all of our favorite items. With the help of Chewy.com we created a list of our outdoor dog-friendly activity essentials!

Some of the links in this post are affiliate links. That means if you click and/or make a purchase through certain links on this site, we may make a small commission (aka treat funds for Navy) from that click and/or purchase. Thank you in advance for all of your love and support!

Our friends at Chewy made prepping for all of our outdoor adventures easy by offering the best deals on over 1,000 brands – making it simple to pick brands we already know and love. We trust Chewy with all of our pet care needs because of their 24/7 customer service which includes expert pet advice!

Nutrition and Water

Whenever we plan to be out of the house for an extended of time with Navy we pack a high protein snack for her and a bottle of water. We recently purchased the Zuke’s Power Bone Beef & Blueberry Recipe Protein Bar Dog Treat from Chewy for our upcoming outdoor endeavors. These power bone protein dog treat bars come in two varieties: beef and blueberry and chicken and cranberry.

As soon as we peeled back the plastic of this treat, Navy’s eyes lit up. You should have seen her and the other dogs on the hike rush over to try and grab a bite! We also love that we could stick a couple of these treats in her pack and give her a bite on the go.

Proper Gear

We always recommend bringing a sturdy leash and harness or collar when you and your pet head outdoors. Our friends at Chewy have an amazing selection of collars, leashes, and harnesses to choose from at the best prices! We don’t go anywhere anymore without our Outward Hound DayPak for Dogs. Navy has the blue pack in a small size. The pack has four expandable pockets, perfect for holding waste bags and treats. The pack also has a D-ring clip to directly attach your leash to! The handle on top of the pack made carrying Navy over the mud puddles! You better believe Navy got a ton of compliments on her cute pack.

First Aid and Safety

If you are headed outdoors with your pup, you should always carry first aid products or a prepackaged first aid kit for your dog close by. The Kurgo Pet First Aid Kit is equipped with 50 first aid essential items to help your dog in case of an emergency. Want to make your own first aid kit? Chewy offers all the first aid supplies you’ll need in case an accident may happen.

Cleaning and Grooming

Chewy is here to help with all of your after outdoor play cleaning and grooming needs! We never travel outside without Nature’s Miracle Spring Waters Deodorizing Bath Wipes. These wipes keep Navy smelling fresh and odor-free after romping around outside. They are also gentle enough to use to clean her face. As a lowrider dog, Navy’s face tends to get dirty fast!

To clean up larger messes we use the Soggy Doggy Microfiber Super Shammy. This Shammy is made of a microfiber chenille, making it more absorbent than regular towels. It soaks up dirt like a sponge! It has hand pockets to keep Navy in place as she tries to wiggle away!

We encourage everyone, no matter your age or fitness level to get outside and enjoy nature this spring. Whether you are going for a hike or just a long walk around the park, any outdoor activity can be an adventure. Happy trails from our family and our friends at Chewy!
